I have made comparisons not with other businesses, but with family. I come from a family of over achievers, and always thought I could never match up to them, so I didn't even try. I did just enough so everyone would leave me alone for being such an under achiever. In the last year I realized, it wasn't my family making me feel that way, but myself and my own fears were holding me back. Thank you for posting this. It has made me even more determined to keep my fears and insecurities in check. You are so right in this. I have made comparisons not with other businesses, but with family. I find that the killer in comparison is that it's so easy for us to make up stories about how much better the competition is actually doing than us. For example, have you ever met someone else, or seen another web site and you automatically think that person is making millions?
