Roaring and ready to go

You will have noticed that this blog has been rather quiet lately. The reason for this was a wonderful vacation back home in the UK. I had such a great time visiting with all my family.

I know with other blogs you don’t even notice when the blog owner is away because they set up posts beforehand or take with them a laptop. I purposefully didn’t do this because I strongly believe that sometimes we need a break – a total break. We need to clear our  heads of business and to truly relax.

We can then come back pumped and ready to go. New ideas start to flow and generally one is rejuvenated. I highly recommend it.

Do you have a vacation planned? You don’t even have to leave your house – just plan a few days completely away from your business. If this doesn’t feel like a good idea then look into the reasons for this – do you feel your business will collapse without your careful nurturing? – if so, you need to look carefully at how everything  runs and put some systems in place so that if you became ill, the business would survive, albeit maybe on hold, without you. Maybe you are holding on so tight to your business from fear that your metaphorical knuckles are white. Fear is never a good thing to be overwhelmed by so look into ways of calming those fears such as remembering how far you have come. A couple of days away from the business is imperative in this case. It will give you much needed perspective and will drive away the smell of desperation that is tainting your business.

It is the best feeling ever when you learn to delegate and trust someone else to run your business when you are gone. In my case I recently taught my young son how to mow the lawn – that’s an hour a week I just got back and it feels so cool when I am doing other tasks while the lawn is getting mowed. He does a far from perfect job but that is OK!

Thanks Sally – it’s good to be back.

Peter good for you – not only do you get that hour but the trust you have shown your son is priceless.
