I have been twittering now for about a month and so decided to write a post about what I really appreciate about the tweets I read, what I could do without and one sure fire way to make sure I won’t follow you.
3 things I love to read about:
1. Great resources and links to interesting blog posts. I click on the majority of urls posted on Twitter and have found some truly outstanding resources. Two of my favorites are the Feedburner feed analyzer and TwitterKarma. @marismith and @problogger are great to follow for this reason.
2. A question that will make me think. People should ask more questions - it is more interesting than telling me what you had for breakfast, I promise.
3. Anything that makes me laugh out loud (note to self do not drink anything whilst reading Twitter, coke does not look good all over my monitor) Special mention here goes to @debgallardo who gets my vote as the funniest Tweeter.
2 things I wish people wouldn’t do on Twitter:
1. Have prolonged conversations between two Tweeters - if no-one joins in your conversation, please take the hint and take it an instant messenger.
2. Constant whining, complaining and moaning. Whilst we all have our difficult moments, Twitter is not the vent channel. Do you REALLY think that people will want to get to know you or work with you if all they hear is a constant negative diatribe. Think before you tweet.
1 way to make sure I won’t follow you:
Choose a name like bestdiettips or 5starhotels and I won’t follow you. I do not want you selling at me from the get go.
Ok, it is now your turn now to let Twitterworld know what they are doing right, what they should not be tweeting and what will cause you to stop following someone. Please comment below. Feel free to share your twitter name and those of people you love to follow.

I like it when people show interest in others as opposed to always tweeting about their own things.
I have to admit that I do sometimes see Twitter as a quick place to vent, but I don’t enjoy seeing people who go overboard with it either.
Twitter is a teeny glimpse of life - if you whine all the time on Twitter, what is the rest of your life like?

I love questions and open (group) conversations too. But like you I dont like the closed discussions between 2 people that flood the screen. I also dont like condescending CRAP (= quick unfollow!).
I enjoy links, resources, polls and humor!

I agree that I don’t follow people who have an obvious agenda to promote their business. I don’t mind those who have a name related to their brand or online persona, unless all their tweets are all about them. If it’s all strictly links to their projects and they aren’t adding anything of personal value then I don’t follow.
All in all though, twitter is a great way to touch base with friends and meet new people.

To make it nice and short:
3 things: I agree with all 3, in particular with 3.1; 3.3 I’m giggling most of the time anyway…
2 things: I don’t take any notice… and I do whine a lot. That saves me whining to my dog or my cat, and so few people are listening anyway…
1 way: as I said to a Twitterer yesterday, either I don’t follow spammers, or I block them altogether.
I felt Twitter was frustrating to start with, but I’m getting to have a small conversation group, so that’s nice. And I’ve started cleaning up my own Tweets, so that I can leave only those I consider the best. Just in case…

Great post!
I agree! I can’t stand when people start talking about stupid stuff. And great point about not wanting to work with someone who is posting dumb things.
Great Job!
