One of the reasons some people are put off building a blog is the idea that it is VERY time consuming. Certain bloggers are very prodigious, producing several posts a day or writing mini novels but there is evidence to suggest that short and sweet can be just as, or even more effective.
The subject matter and your audience need also to be considered. Business matters should be around the 250-400 words mark but difficult emotional matters can be stretched out much more. Look at blogs that you enjoy reading that are in the same niche and look at the word count. Also notice your own reactions – do you tend to prefer shorter or longer posts?
An easy way to know your word count is to cut and paste it into a Word document – this is also a great idea as you can then spell check at the same time – spelling mistakes are sloppy and so easily averted with today’s technology.
Word count : 260

I’ve learned that the topic, in my case, is what drives the length. I don’t want it to be too short to make the point clear nor too long too hold interest. Balance is key. I think your balance is great.
